The Agile Company: Management Momentum
Guest speaker: Ivan Van de Cloot
>> From the seminar on Management Momentum (a defining moment, unusually propitious for taking or following up an initiative), the take-home message is that Momentum is based on four key points:
We then crossed the bridge to Itinera Institute (a think-tank that seeks to evaluate long-term trends and changes based on facts). Ivan Van de Cloot, chief economist at Itinera Institute, carried us along with him on the topic of ‘Building prosperity and wellbeing’. Ivan told us that creating prosperity is of very much more than purely economic importance. Indeed, research shows that prosperity is not the outcome of harder work, but of working more efficiently. Thus, Itinera tells us that, over time, economic growth is 20% the result of population growth, 30% the result of better education and training, and 50% down to increased research effort worldwide. The company makes all the difference here. Lamentably, Belgium (3%) holds the bottom ranking where youth entrepreneurialism is concerned, and the gap separating it from the leaders Norway (9%) and Iceland (11%) is wide. Time to give the necessary push, it seems to us!
