Management Momentum
"Dreaming of a 'Business' playstation?"
For a company to be agile its management must be able to anticipate. What-if scenarios can be useful for developing the right reflexes. Compare it to a child learning to use a playstation.
I wake up at the sound of my son’s playstation and my daughter’s nintendo. Recovering from a busy week, I observe their performances with a hint of jealousy. And yet, this is so familiar. The enthusiasm to win, the features on their faces, the joy when they succeed, the frustration when something goes wrong, and, time and again, they persistently try to achieve the next level. I thought to myself: “they do exactly the same as every manager in his organisation.” They want to get better, the only difference is, they have the luxury to be able to keep trying. From this moment on, I wished every CEO would have, his own playstation, his own playground, his own safe environment. In that dream, various strategies can be developed, the impact on the result can be monitored, and we can confidently make the right decision.
